Rule Book 2019

Postby admin » Mon Nov 19, 2018 9:57 am

So Far no changes imminent for 2019 as far as Class rules goes..
Parking clarification, and perhaps some "performance criteria"...
Looking at some Clarification of Existing rules in Pro gas, and certainly Super Street.
And... No we do Not do Business on social media... Our laundry is done "In House"
Thanks

Remember we talked about only being able to set 1/8 mile MPH records at 1/8 mile events in pro classes to eliminate tripping the lights ans setting false mph records.

The only bikes that can carry the tire thru the lights are fuel bikes.

Let's start with
Keep the Charging system intact
No Engine driven Lock-ups
I detest going down the road of Outlining what Cannot be done... it will never end.... We need to stick to GR-1

The authority of the event director/tech official to make any
rules/regulation decision whatsoever shall be absolute. Specifically
if it is not stated that something is a Safe and Legal Design, Change,
or Modification, then it should be known that it is Illegal.

and consider letting v-rods in... up to 1250 displacement... Not Destroyers without wheelie bars...

Keep the current charging system rule intact or the charging system has to be intact and operational ?

What about wheel driven lock ups ?

I'm afraid that what I know about Wheel driven lock-ups could be stuffed in a Whippoorwills Butt and he could still walk straight!!!!!
Conventional lockup clutches tho... even street bikes use 'em...

Oh yea... back to the original rule book thought... if one cannot find it stated specifically that you can remove your charging system... then it is [should be] known... by the book, that it must be intact...

Marty for years now you have allowed us to not run charging systems. This is what happens when the rule book is not kept up to date. Several years ago you allowed us to not run a charging system. Atleast 3 years ago. CHARLEY DOUGLASS

Oh ... Well then... I suspect the thing to do is to put that it is in fact OK to remove them Into the Rule Book...Huh?
Now... question is... can it be Physically Removed? or simply non-functional?

The reason for the removal in my opinion was for safety. The stock charging systems were not designed for turning 8000rpm engine speeds. The magnets come unglued chewing up the stator and locking up the engine. Also in a closed sportster primary, the magnet pieces are sent through the transmission. I have had at least 15 failed rotors. On my super street through the years.

(1) As for the class designated parking, I personally like and have experienced the uniformity and comradery it builds with in a class for many years with several sanctioning bodies. This can and does somewhat eliminate being blocked in by a few people who don't understand the effect of their actions.

(2) Marty are we going to leave the Pro Gas rules as is?
I assisted in bringing in Greg Frost the current PG Champion from Nebraska last year and have at least one WAITING to know.
So, they can refresh their bike plus, Greg Dahl and I have spoken and he wants to run HIS new bike in PG.

(3) A subject was discussed at the rule meeting about the track owners not liking slower bikes running in PG specifically.
I and many others have been the slower bike in their formative years of racing,
Being beat by the fastest bikes only drove me to work harder and improve.
I have raced in several sanctions and never has the slower bike been eliminated for that reason.
How are they to progress and not have their desire to race and learn, be squashed and not return.
While running in NHRA Pro Gas at Atlanta in 2013, we had 3 bikes; Lozano's bike sold to Clint Rabb (7.4 bike), myself (8.0 bike)and a semi stock sportster with wheelie bars running 11's or 12's. They did not differentiate between the bikes performance.
They paid their entry fee, passed inspection, ran qualifying runs and raced in eliminations on Sunday.
I have seen one bike win the NHRA PG class which was a V-Rod at several events while being the ONLY bike entered.

Last year, I attended 3 events assisting the Frost team trying to improve his program and bring in new blood and promote the PG class on my own dime.
I am not alone in doing this to help others in their efforts.

Please advise Asap.

Regards
Tom Caldwell
